The FBI raided a hosting service in the middle of the night looking for one company’s servers. But instead of just grabbing the ones they had warrants for, they took 3 different enclosures containing the servers that were leased by other web companies such as Pinboard, Instapaper, the NY Times affiliate Curbed Network, and DigitalOne’s own website. Pinboard was knocked offline and is now running on a backup server and Instapaper took some performance hits. But not only that, the FBI now has illegal access to users data that were stored on those servers.
